REIKI TRAINING
The Integration of Eastern & Western Teachings

There are many different ways of connecting to Reiki in the West, many of them quite complicated, sometimes differing at different levels of Reiki, and with much focus and attention given by the person doing the attunement. however, they all seem to work! The Japanese way of attuning a person to Reiki is very different to the Western one. Mikao Usui used a very graceful and flowing ritual called 'Reiju' which is beautiful in its simplicity

In Western teaching, a fixed set of hand positions must be followed, for a specified length of time. Usui taught his students to develop their intuition, and allow the hands to be guided by the energy rather than use fixed positions, which were introduced by Hayashi. Treatments would differ from one person to another, and from treatment to treatment, based on individual needs at any one time; a simple approach, free from inhibiting regulation

The greatest difference between Usui's original method and the techniques used in the West is in the use of the Reiki symbols and Reiki energies. The symbols were not introduced to the world by Usui after a moment of enlightenment, as told in the history according to Hawayo Takata, but were existing symbols that Usui taught to only three people at the end of his teaching

In the West, Second Degree Reiki involves being 'attuned' to symbols for use when giving treatments and for 'sending' of Reiki long-distance. Again, many different ways are taught of using these symbols, and some of these are also very complicated and restrictive

The Reiki symbols are more of a focus of Western Reiki than they are in Japan. Mikao Usui's students were not given symbols, but used other ways to connect to the energies that the symbols represent

Rather than being used in complicated rituals and order, as is taught in Western Reiki, the energy represented by them was utilized in a simple and uncomplicated way, producing a frequency of solid earth energy, celestial energy, and at Third Degree, a vibration through which soul healing may occur

This simple and intuitive way is taught at the second level of Reiki, which really empowers the treatment for the individual and this is expanded upon at master level

The attunement or empowerment process is the main thing that changes from the Western teachings at this level. The Western attunement method is taught, as well as the original Reiju Empowerments. These are the way Usui connected his students to Reiki, and repeating them at regular intervals enhances the spiritual development and sensitivity to energy of the individual and strengthens intuition

Another completely new revelation is the ‘kotodama' (sacred sounds) and their use in healing and attuning. These are Shinto mantras, which predate the use of the Reiki symbols

I shall be teaching the Reiki Master Course (Sinpiden) for some time to come, as I see my present students complete their journey, and am very happy to make the course available to those of you who may wish to take your Reiki to the ultimate level with me, so do catch me while you can! :)

Although my general Reiki teaching is coming to an end, I will always continue to support my students as and when help is needed

Although I am no longer running a Reiki 1 course, I am still running Reiki 3 (Shinpiden) courses, but have now handed over to those having studied with me Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 teachings. You are welcome to study this level with me even if you have done your first two levels with another master or masters

REIKI I COURSE - SHODEN
For your information, the first degree is open to anyone who wishes to optimise their personal and spiritual growth, accepting responsibility for their own healing, and who wish to help their friends, family and even pets! This can be a life changing experience, and will help you to learn to accept your chosen life path, letting go of the struggle against its natural flow

The Reiki 1 degree attunes you to the Reiki energy, and enables you to undertake a period of cleansing and self-treatment. It will also uplift and inspire you! (Please read my Testimonials to give you an idea of what Reiki can do for you )

The original teachings of Reiki as taught by Mikao Usui, the founder of Japanese Reiki practise energy exercises to help strengthen and purify the Reiki channel. It is a wonderful and powerful method of self-healing and healing for treating others

REIKI II COURSE - OKUDEN
Generally, within a few months of undertaking the first level of Reiki and experiencing what a joy it can bring both to you and those around you, you will probably wish to expand you knowledge and experience of this wonderful energy

Depending on the teacher you choose for the second level, you will generally learn original Usui energy exercises to further develop your intuition. To share this healing with others may have become more important to you, and this course will take your practise of Reiki to the next level and enable you to become a Reiki Practitioner if you wish

You will learn the three Reiki symbols and their uses, including very effective methods of distant healing. Two original Usui scanning and intuitive techniques will be demonstrated and practised. These will aid the intuitive development of your healing, moving away from set hand positions to allow the Reiki energy to guide your hands instead. The way you treat will then vary from person to person, and indeed, treatment to treatment for the same person, according to their individual needs at any one time. Our situation and needs are constantly changing, and so the treatments become uniquely appropriate. You may also discover how to heal using your eyes and breath!
